Do you think people worship these A/B/C listers too much?

If so, who amongst the lot of them is God?

Duh! I'm so sick of their fake ***! Remember when supermodels ruled the world in the 80s and early 90s? And then 1 day bam, it was over,,,, well I really wish they'd stop the celeb frenzie cuz most of us don't give a **** what color Sleazy Lohan's crotch is or how many babies Fattie Spears' gonna pop up, they're pampered, worshiped and overpaid while most of us are jugglin 2 or 3 jobs just to pay bills! Not fair! And it's not like they're super talented, please any 4 skanks from a local joint could do a better job than the stluttiest housewives! Ppl really need a reality check, since when is Starbucks, Coach and Juicy necessities? Really really ditch the US and Ppl Magazines, and read stuff about current world news and Wallstreet, take action and kick fake Hollywood to the curb! I don't really talk that much but Ppl it's a touchy subject and I could name 100 celebs that get on my nerves

I don't think its becoming a religion.

I think for some people celebrities lives are more interesting that their own. Thats why they look to them.

I don't worship them celebrities, what have they done? get paid millions to be in a film? some are better than others, but some are idolised for no reason.

I'd rather be inspired by scientists, people who have helped others, have talent and made a real difference. Given to charity etc etc

I have stopped reading trashy magazines such as heat and reveal. I think it is just propaganda, and they are trying to tell us you should look like this and be this size etc (you are on the cover if you are too skinny OR too big). It is all very shallow and confusing ,and I think if more people boycotted these silly magazines, the better.

These magazines and celebrity culture can be very damaging to young or impressionable people.

Celebrity, fashion and football are definately the new opium of the masses. People need something to focus their emotions time and energy on. It provides sheer escapeism from day to day humdrum existence. If people need it to fill a void in their life that's fine so long as they do not exclude reality totally. Everyone needs a dream, they give it to them.
Also people no longer know their neighbours, whereas they would have gossiped about a neighbour, they now gossip about the latest celeb love triangle. In this virtual universe they feel more familiar with celebs then the people they walk past every day and never speak to.

I think a lot of people are getting tired of the celebrity culture thing.Quite a few so called celebs seem to gain this status, for doing nothing much in the first place.

And if i see one more celebrity cooking/dancing/singing etc show,i'm throwing the telly in a skip

I think society spends way to much time and money on celebrities, they are only human, in my opinion the world as way too many serious problems that should be dealt with, i would definately choose to know how the situation in Iraq is going over Britney shaving her head! Also, the money that these celebrities earn for doing nothing really is shocking.
