You are right, there is a fair amount chance to get infected while using bluetooth especially while transferring files from other phones. The main virus is comwarrior. You need to install an anti virus before you do file transferring through bluetooth. That is available for free from www.mobango.com or www.wapain.net.

One more thing, it is not advisable to switch on bluetooth while you are in a pub or party for the purpose of open chatting with other persons through bluetooth.

you are correct yes viruses can be passed on via bluetooth as i have found out from working for a mobile company and is fairly rare but yes it can happen, i would advise you not to accept anything if you do not know who is trying to connect with you, i also wont leave my bluetooth on as i am on contract and i saw the real hustle a tv programe and it showed how easy it was for the hustlers to tap into the bluetooth and used it to make actual calls from their own bluetooth yet the unsuspecting person was paying for it, you may want to call me paranoid but its not worth the risk of having a huge bill if it was to happen or a virus corrupting my phones software.

You are a bit paranoid but very sensible. Bluetooth is so insecure it's not even funny. It's unlikely you would get a virus but even the most mundane data transfer can cause hiccups especially to PCs with a Bluetooth connection.

I heard that it is possible the viruses can be sent through Bluetooth mobile phone but mostly will hit PDAs & Symbian platform phones.

One of my friend whose owns a Symbian platform phone face this type of problem because he constantly switch on the Bluetooth on his phone until he receives unknown content through Bluetooth transfer.

So it is advisable to switch off the Bluetooth when not in use.

To be honest its not something i've not come accross. It could be possible i suppose with bluejacking and all. I always keep my bluetooth switched off unless i need it.
