"Never retreat, never surrender......."
does this sound suspiciously like Allexander Dane's "never give up, never surrender" from Galaxy quest.
I don't think I could now take 300 seriously...............

It does and that is funny that you bring that up. I have one even better for you. Jean Claud Van Dam first movie was this B rated film in which he played the bad guy and the good guy was trained in martial arts by the ghost of Bruce Lee (Yes, i actually watched it..i am a martial arts fan)...but the name of the film.... No Retreat, no Surrender!

I had to laugh at there tag line myself as that B rated movie jumped into my head!

First of all...300 is not based on a comic book, but a graphic novel...and it's actual history that Miller wrote striaght out of Herodatus, which modern historians call the father of history. That line that is in the trailer.."Our arrows will blot out the sun" "Then we shall fight in the shade" is direct quote from Herodatus.

This movie is far from the joke you guys are expecting. It's the story about the bravery of only 300 Spartans. Spartans are some of the best warriors history has ever known. For example...if they were against modern Navy Seals, he Seals would gets their *** kicked. It is one of the best historically accurate films I have seen and shows the idea of passed down stories really well.

I saw it opening weekend...and 300 is one of the best movies I have seen for a while. And it rivals my love for Braveheart...and if you knew me you would realize how big that it...Braveheart is one of my all time favorites.

And Galaxy Quest is brilliantly written movie because of the whole idea of a fandom being real, and crazy addicted fans actually saving the day. It brings alot of social views of science fiction/fantasy fans into question. It is an intellegent smart film...

Relax Guy
Movies get remade all the time
How did you like "The Hills Have Eyes" (good movie right)?
How about Wes Craven's 1977 film by the same name?
http://imdb.com/title/tt0077681/
( I never saw it)
My point is, It's four words. You are really going to judge what may be the best film of 2007 based on the tag line
if you want to complain how about the fact that it's just a remake of the movie "300 Spartans" made in 1962

Who's taking the film seriously. It's based on a comic book!

I think it's just a coincidence really.. Honestly, I loved 300. It was an awesome movie, so I don't think you judge the movie just on its tag line being similar to a comedic movie.
