What is the difference between an A4LD404 and an A4LD402?

I have a '91 Aerostar with a 4.0L engine and a '91 Explorer 4WD with a 4.0L engine. The Aerostars transmission is newly rebuilt but the engine is toast. Can I put the Aerostars transmission in the Explorer? They are both A4LD transmissions.

look at the back of the transmission. the one with the transfer case(4x4) is probably different. meaning i don't think it will work. good luck

I should work the only difference is the 4WD wont work.
