It was a long time ago, but this sounds like a similar thing that happened when I was young. The person that was being called names started finding different things about other people and changing their names, too! One was skinny, one was pimply, one was straggly hair, one was messy (because his desk was always a mess and he could never find anything), and I forget the rest. It changed the name calling as the other kids didn't like being called names other than Jane, Ginny, Ben, etc.
As far as weight, you have to burn up about 3500 calories more than you take in in order to lose one pound. Climbing stairs burns up the most calories at 1100 an hour. We used to run the steps in the stadium when I was in college. That kept any fat from settling and kept our hearts in shape. Our leg were firm with muscles, too. Find some stairs and start by walking them daily as often as possible.
Refuse to sit when you can be standing, walking, or running. Keep busy when you are at home; don't sit or lie down; keep moving.
Your body will burn up the stored fat if it isn't given food. Unless you have a thyroid problem, you probably have been eating more than your body needs, so it is storing the extra. Keep on eating what you like, but don't eat as much. When you would usually eat an 8" sub sandwich, only eat 6" or better half of it. Save the other half for the next day. If you eat a plate of spaghetti, get a smaller plate or don't fill the plate as full. Eat more sauce than noodles.
Drink plenty of water. In fact, drinking a glass of water before every meal will help you feel full faster and cause you to eat a little less.

Check out this website, it is free and offers great advice about nutrition and fitness:

The only safe way to loose weight is to eat fewer calories and get more exercise. You arent' going to loose all of your weight overnight. Think about it - you didn't go to sleep one night at 75 pounds and wake up the next day at 150 pounds. You most likely gained your weight gradually over time. The same is true for weight loss. If you want to loose weight and keep it off, you need to develop healthy habits that will help you loose the weight over time.
I struggle with dieting and fitness too. It isn't easy. It hurts when people call you fatty and stuff like that.
Good luck.

You need to be motivated and cut the calories daily to 1500-1800 at first and then taper down...if hungry you can eat fruits and veggies high in fiber and will take the weight off slowly...it won't be easy, but you need to be goal oriented.....Guys always seem to loose it faster than us gals. keep up exercise...take the dog for a walk, jog w/dog, get dog walking job to start out slowly for a few weeks and then join a gym or stay active (if old enough get a job that requires a bit of movement...help in the yard with spring cleanup to burn calories....) and keep away from the snacks. Ask parents to cut buying extra snacks you like...ask for fruit...apple, pears, plums, melons....carrots, eat salads to fill up....no cheese or bacon crumbles or high fat dressings. WishBone makes Just2good dressing and they taste like the real thing and cut the fat. Be sensible and focused....in September you'll come back to school and if they call you FATTY, it will be a compliment to the NEW you!!!!
Good Luck....

First, know who you are inside. Love yourself. You need to tame your appetite. Three meals a day with healthy snacks in between is all you need. If you try to cut back on foods, that'll slow ur metabolism down, you won't burn or distridute the food and it's calories, fats, sugars, vitamines, as your body should. It'll start to eat itself. Don't try any flooky diets. It's not necessary. You set urself up for expectations and if you don't see any results your quick to think it doesn't work. A healthy habbit is a life style. You have to keep at it to see results. Keep active. Simple things as cleaning your room or roller blading, bike riding, walking, these things contribute a lot.
Your day of meals should be something like this:
>Breakfast: a bowl of cearel( something healthy like Total or Smart Start, etc.) And if that doesn't fill you drink a glass of orange juice and a Go-Gurt(optional). Take a multi-vitamine. It suppliments ur body by giving it things u need that ur probalbe not getting through the day with regular food intake. There's mens and womens multi-vitamines.
>Snak in Between: vegitable(carrots, celery, etc. or whatever you like. Pack it in Zip-Lock bag and take a small tuperware bowl for a low fat salade dressing, like Ranch). fruit, or granola bar, or trail mix. You don't need a lot. Let a Zip-Lock bag be ur measuring cup. Just fill it half way. This is a "snak" not a meal.
>Lunch: If ur not satisfied with the lunch they're proving in school then pack one. Something like Lean Cusine or Lean Pockets. With a fruit, a healthy drink like SoBe and a treat ( a few cookies(3-4) so ur not daprived.
And dinner. Though, if your family's eating habbits are the cause of yours, then the whole family needs to change.

You really need to stick with a plan. Exercising twice a week is ok, but if you want to see better results, you need to exercise 4-5 times daily if not everyday. Watch your calorie intake and drink a ton of water. Do loads of cardio and ask your mom if you can join a weight loss group like Weight Watchers or something. Good Luck.

I'm sorry people can be so mean. All these answers are great. Exercise more ,mind your portions and lots of water. Don't make the mistake of starving yourself. If you don't eat your body thinks its starving and holds on to the fat. Your body needs good fuel. Eat a healthy breakfast-. Eat at least 3 meals a day. Depending on your body type you may need more frequent meals but small portions of course. Make sure everything you eat is healthy. Check with your doctor. I hope you get to a great weight and make them eat their words. Good luck.

how overweight are you? maybe you are just chubby and at a comfortable weight and thus, it makes it harder to loose the pounds
try weight lifting to turn some of the fat softness into muscle---start with free weights and then work up from there---may about 30 minutes to an hour a day
also running, crunches and swimming also help to tone the body----oh, and biking----and they are fun
i would also try to eat more healthy---stay away from soda pop (unless diet pop), fast food and sweets
eat more fish (tuna, salmon, cod...), plain chicken breast, salad (lite dressing), fruits and veggies
also stay away from fried foods
i am sure you can do it :)---kids are mean and you just need to ignore them---i am sure one day you will be looking far better than them and it also sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and are not a JERK which is one step ahead of them (JERKS are the ones who make fun of others)---just work real hard and you will see progress soon

Only twice a week? Do some sort of physical activity EVERY DAY. It doesn't have to be a big workout--walk around the block fast a couple times to get your metabolism heated up--that's what burns off excess callories.
Cut down on the carbohydrates and processed foods. You'll be OK.

Join a gym to work out your body. For food, join weight watchers. They're really good. You'll lose weight very slowly. Despite that fact, chances are you will stay on the program because you will not be starving or depriving yourself of your favorite foods.

Exercise every single day, not just twice a week. The ONLY way to lose is to eat less and exercise more, period. Burn more calories than you take in. Be firm with yourself, and stick to it. It will benefit your heart and your whole body.
