Progress is by definition something that needs a goal. Nature does not really have goals other than surviving and reproducing. For this goal however it will do what is to do to achieve it.

There is no disaster that can stop this from happening. As long as there is a planet with some sort of life on it, it will begin to evolve and make progress again :)

Yes it is!! The environment is constantly evolving. One cannot remain stagnant forever besides without progress, we would still be living in caves and clubbing women over the head. Progres might get "stuck" from time to time or even stop due to a disaster but it will continue till we self destruct.

It all depends upon your definition of "progress". If it is raping the enviornment and economically enslaving others then yes.
