Well it is to soon to see the fetal pole at 5 wks. You will see it at around 7 to 8 wks and most likely able to see the heart beat as well. What are the Beta quant numbers looking like are they rising? If so things should turn out well. Though don't always rely on the numbers.. mine were not doubling at 9 wks and thoughts of a miscarriage were about and I am now 35wks along and possibly going to deliver in the next week. So ask the doctor to check the beta every 2 days for a week and see where that leads. Good luck.

This COULD mean a miscarriage or other pregnancy problem (blighted ovum), but it's also a VERY early ultrasound, so it's possible they just can't see it yet. They'll probably ask you to have another ultrasound in a few weeks.

The suggestions are BhCG, which means to measure the levels of HCG in the bloodstream of the patient, and Followup ultrasound, to see if it's simply too early or if there is a problem.

Good luck!
