I am 20yo, but I have always been "mature for my age", or so people say. Several of my closest friends are more than 2 decades older than me, but I don't feel the age gap at all.

One such friend is a 45yo former teacher who has always been a great mentor and role model. We see each other twice or thrice a year, and email regulary (around twice a week).

Now, I've always had a huge crush on him, but I've never told him simply because I know it's inappropriate. On several occasions, he has told me that he "likes" me a lot (whatever that's supposed to mean), but that he respects me enough to keep distance.

Lately, he has been asking me to tell him how I really feel about him. Should I tell him I like him a lot, even though I have no intentions of being more than friends with him? Or should I keep on pretending that I don't feel anything special for him?

His question is simply borne out of curiosity, and I'm sure he also has no intentions of taking anything to the next level.

most of the time, things are better if u get them off ur chest then other times it can cause problems, thet can split a lot of people up. If u want 2 tell him then go on at least ur honest so u got 1 thing right for being honest.

Why is liking this guy so inappropriate? You both are over the age of 18. I think you should tell him that you like him, even date him if you want to. If age is the problem... age is only a number, its no biggie!

I believe that honesty is always the best policy. If you lie, people will always find out what you are trying to hide. If they find it out, your friendship may break or even worse
