Don't do it,the chance of making a fool of yourself are too high.Imagine if they smelled it on you? What if you had a giddy reaction and talked utter cr*p throughout the interview.Or even worse, they assumed that you had a slug of alcohol before you went anywhere, and then word got out, with a few unfounded rumours thrown in for good measure(you know how these things go) and before you know it word around town is that you are an unemployable alcoholic! Also,as pointed out by another answerer, using alcohol to get you through nervous situations could be the gateway to a whole shed load of problems.

I think that's a bad idea, for several reasons. If you happen to actually smell like an alcoholic beverage during working hours at a job interview, it will send gigantic red flags to the people doing the hiring. Second, you don't want to go down the road of "needing" a drink to calm your nerves or pump you up for something as it could lead to "needing" it more often.
I know it is tempting because one often feels more confident when a little "buzzed" but it's often hard for the "buzzed" one to gauge where the line is between "happy" and seeing a bit tipsy, which again, would be a horrible impression in an interview. I don't think it 's worth the many risks.
I would suggest instead doing some roleplaying with a friend or yourself in just practiciing or imagining greeting and small talk scenarios that would start off an interview and think of some common interview questions and decide how you will answer them. Going in prepared should take the edge off your nervousness.
Other possibilities are putting yourself in other, less high-stress situations where you meet people and make small talk so you gain confidence on your abilities in the first stages of meeting new people and feel less nervous and shy.
On the day of the actual interview, rather than a drink, do some deep breathing to calm yourself. Slow in and out of breath. It really does work! And visualize yourself being calm, confident and doing great.
You'll be much better off than turning to any sort of substance to boost yourself up, because you'll be doing it yourself.

Alcohol? that is not a smart theory in any respect. Alcohol is the final ingredient you prefer till now an interview, I not attempting to tension you yet, i don't think of speaking absolute giberish and not being waiting to stroll at as quickly as is a solid thank you to do an interview, Coco cola or purple bull, no way, to plenty caffeine, you would be as severe as a kite, with a bit of luck listerine, it smells remarkable, and is healthful on your gums, yeah that isn't the tastiest drink interior the international, yet a minimum of your breath won't scent undesirable. yet for a reliveing ingredient to calm you down is probable a drink like.....a remarkable GLASS OF WATER TO REFRESH YOUR recommendations, wish this facilitates you + solid luck with your interview :)

ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! HELL no you shouldn't have a drink before an interview!!!!!!!!!!!!! good grief!! instead of being all wrapped up in yourself, think about the other person giving the interview..think about why you want this job/position; what is the company all about?? concentrate on something besides yourself!! before you go in, take a few deep breaths, and picture yourself, in your mind, as being relaxed and confident....practice what you are going to say in front of a mirror, including your handshake,,,rehearsal always helps when you are nervous!! sorry I'm so rough on you but at least give these suggestions some thought!!!!!!! email me if you have any further questions, or if you want to holler at me!!LOL

Try deep breathing in a quiet place before the interview- go in with positive thoughts and go in knowing if you dont get the job it is not the end of the world. You are probably just putting too much pressure on yourself to suceed, let it come more naturally. I also like to listen to my favorite music before a big meeting, interview, etc because it calms me and gives me confidence.
another part of being confident is going in to the interview prepared. make sure you practice interviewing with a family member or friend. know about the job and the company you are interviewing for.

Bad idea. Particularly if you seldom drink. the last thing you want to do is give them a good reason to not hire you.
If you get really nervous, try 'practice interviewing' with friends or family to help settle your nerves. You can find common interview questions online pretty easily. Also, show up 15 minutes early so you have time to review your notes and get familiar with your surroundings while you wait.
And remember...interviewers expect you to be a little nervous. Everybody is. It's part of the process. They shouldn't hold it against you.
Good luck!

There is a method to the madness but it could always backfire. Someone that is rigid might appreciate you being the same....You might giggle your way out of a job or talk yourself out of a sale. What if you burped alchohol breathe? I just think its bad luck....you might look for that crutch over and over until you have a drink right after you brush your teeth in the morning to prevent road rage. You get the point my friend....breathe deep....take yoga and you can always pretend you had a drink...you know some people actually started acting drunk when given non alcoholic drinks in an experiment...so its all in the mind anyway. have some apple juice on me.....cheers!

bad call. the risks outweigh the benefit. actually, a downer (as booze is) will induce a relaxed state but actually lesson mental ability. on the other hand, having a small coffee and a small piece of dark chocolate (70% cocoa) 45minutes before will help highten your everything(brain, confidence). you willbe so hyped up that your nervousness won't matter as much. i do this rather than the booze alternative. good luck! and remember, medicating problems is not the way to go-pure, intentful progress in solving the problem naturally is best

i understand your sentiment. but this could potentially spell disaster. if you're absolutely certain you'll be too nervous to handle the interview without help, see about taking a xanax for anxiety (or half of one.) it should ease your anxiety and allow you to say and do what you need to get your job. alcohol is much less controllable, not to mention the potential to be 'found out' via smell, stumbling, slurring words, etc. other than that, why not try stress relieving techniques such as deep breathing and yoga? they really work to help center you :) good luck!

I wouldn't do it. Find another alternative. You need to build your confidence level up. Be prepared or do mock interviews in front of the mirror with someone else asking you "possible" questions. Always do research and get much information as possible...
good luck...
