Tampons are a female swimmer's best friend! It is perfectly hygenic to swim while on your period; the chlorine and chemicals in the water ensure that. I would absolutely recommend using a tampon to ensure your wife can control her flow and doesn't get embarassed by any leaks! There's no sweat, no one will ever know she's on the rag unless she tells them ( =
Also, swimming can be very good for helping with cramps. The stretching and motion help relax the muscles so it could be very beneficial for her.
Good luck, have fun!

Being a competitive swimmer for 8 years, and being unable to wear tampons due to horrible side effects, I'm one of the lucky ones whose period stops when in water. I'm so lucky, I know, but wearing a tampon is the best wayto do it, because I know a lot of people are disgusted by the idea of women swimming sans tampon while on their period. They don't understand that the flow stops when you're submerged. Oh well.

Yes it is perfectly hygenic for a women to go swimming on her period. I personally would not count on the water to stop her flow but thats just me. Wearing a tampopn ensures that she won't leak. Iam a swimming athlete, i thought i was going to have a heard time but it has been easier than ever!!
I have acutally found that swimming when on your period helps with craps. So i would deffinately encourage her to swim while on her period.

I see no problem with this. Wear a tampon while swimming. For some women even, the water seems to temporarily halt their period (this happens for me).

Most women would wear a tampon, or not swim at all. It's really a matter of personal preference.
Besides, there is chlorine in public pools to kill germs and stuff. Just think of all the kids who pee in it.

There is no problem. A tampon is her best bet for hygiene while swimming regardless of which type of product she may use at other times.

They don't gush blood like it's an arterial wound, so a tampon should keep it in check.
