Do i sense hypocrisy in this land of free speech? You poor sods

Offended to the point where some sectors of society want them to shut up and sing? Its veers on the absurd and i cant possibly understand it. To claim ones laurels and patronage on the values of America but to be so passionate in shutting down something you dont like. This is worse than the taliban at least they were open in their opression, this is a classic case of a wolf in sheeps clothing. So much more dangerous as it can gardually sneak up on you and you are engulfed before you know it?

The Dixie Chicks don't offend me at all...in fact they are very beautiful, talented, and liberal.

Why are you offended by our reaction to the Dixie Chicks? Do I sense hypocrisy in this land of free speech? Typical liberal double standard.

The Dixie Chicks forgot their base and suffered the consequences...so? The majority of country music listeners are more of a conservative persuasion and less liberal than most so they took offense to her comments spoken over seas. Nobody said they can't speak their minds but then again nobody has to listen, play their music or have anything to do with them.

Im not offended. Here's the deal, they have the right o free speech, yes they do. I have the right NOT to buy their albums, my version of free speech. Just because someone says something, does it mean I HAVE to love it.....No I dont.

Cheers and have a nice day

Your sense is correct. I'm not offended by the Dixie Chicks at all. I'm offended by people thumping their chests about going to war and then don't have the courage to go and fight themselves. Their form of patriotism is burning huge amounts of gas and putting a magnet on their SUV.

Nobody tried to ban them from saying anything they wished. When one is a public figure, words have potential costs. The Dixie Whores found that out.

We're not ready to make nice.
Actually I don't think anyone even cares about it anymore. That's old news. Stop beating a dead horse.

Every person has the right to say what he or she chooses. We also have the right to not listen to those who are speaking against our views. Say what you want but don't expect me to stand there and listen.
