If something is a basic human right, then your access to it is not denied just because you can't afford it.

I tend to agree it should be a right.

We should never legislate morality upon consenting adults in a free nation.

it depends on what the basis for the right is. I don't like rights arguments, simply because the theory behind the source of rights makes my head hurt.

however, I do think that if anyone is really interested in reducing the number of abortions that are performed, they would support easy affordable access to contraception.

and sway? high horses just make for a harder fall.

As a woman who can't stop my ovulation from happening and who is also sexually active it is my responsibility to use contraception and yes I do think it is a basic human right. I'm supposed to rely on somebody else to be responsible for me? I don't think so.

The access is still there. Do you want governmental subsidies as well? Why is it everytime someone on the left decides something is a "right", I end up paying for it?

EDIT: So, you believe it's the inalienable right of college kids to be given birth control on Uncle Sam's dime? That's insane. If they wish to bump uglies, I have nothing to do with it.

Basic human right? Absolutely not.

However, I think it would be prudent for the government to help cover these costs, as the more widespread use of contraception could help avoid other more costly and socially draining problems.

Don't confuse 'rights' with 'privledges'.

Your rights are outlined in the Bill of Rights - the first 10 amendments to the US Constitution.

You don't need any more.

It is a privledge to have available birth control.

If it is, then should abortions be made illegal. Since if you got pregnant, you are not taking your government prescribed medication
