I keep seeing all of these utterly moronic names for kids. Maybe you think it's cool that yours is the only child with that name. Do you ever think it might be hard on them, when they go to school? When they grow up, and want to be respected and taken seriously?

It's not about you! Do you ever think that?

Example: Lastings Milledge, he plays for the New York Mets; he was his mother's 7th child, and her last. A very handsome guy, with a lot of talent, and an idiotic name. How about the hell the Bears coach has gone through, all his life; his name is Lovie! He's a grown man!

I did ask: What were you thinking? Dod you use your head?

Anyone out there defending a moron name.

How about Pestilence? It sounds nice! UGGGGGHHHHHHH

I agree with you! It is probably "hell" for a child to grow up hearing others make fun of and tease you all the time because of the strange, oddball, off the wall name that your parents/mother/father named you! Then the person has to face an adult life also with that crazy name or spend lots of money changing it to something more sane.

People should think long and hard, before naming their children any strange, oddball, off the wall name!

People want there children to break out from the ordinary names. Names like Lastings have meaning like lasting forever and the last one. Lovie can mean that a child came into this world with the intention of being a child that will be loved and will love others.

All because people choose to name their children Lasting, Lovie, Apple, and Barbecue it means they want there child to stand out not sit in the crowd and be another Joe or Jane.

Ok.. do you not see all the names out there from actors and actresses.. Apple, Pilot, Deweezle(however that is spelled), and the guy that played for the Mets.. well obviously his name did not make his life to hard.. cause he is a Major League Baseballer.. ya know! It was probably his name that moved him up.. cause it was easy to remember. Same goes with Lovie.. seems like these names are making them more money than our little common names.. don't ya think??

I agree. Sick to death of the weird, abnormal names with odd spellings. If the parents want to be unique and creative, try painting or writing poetry...don't name your kids something ridiculous. The name "Preshyous" won't be so precious when she's 70 years old. Or the name "Krystahl Destynie" will be fun to put at the top of a resume for a 23 year old trying to get a job at a law firm.

Some parents are just plain mean. For example, the woman who named her child Dick Head.

But it's a parent's prerogative to name a child what they want. We chose Braeden because we liked the way it looked, it didn't sound weird, and it was easy to pronounce by looking at it - but at the time, it wasn't especially popular. 'Course, it's much more popular now, but that's okay. Granted, he will always have to spell it for people - but there are so many variations of the name that I think he'd have to do that no matter what spelling we chose.

My children have traditional names, but that is also my choice. As for the kids having there names different that would be mine but i loved being different. It helps if you help build there self esteem too. Cause they are the only one with that name. LOL I hate it when i hear the same names constantly. So what there different it wasn't your choice or your kid. Open your mind. And you will find out some of those names are from a different culture.

I don't think it is bad for a child to have a unique name, it just means that there is not yet another mike, or david, around.. I named my son a unique name.. it is not a sissy name.. His name is Daethon I really really love that name with him, and it matches his personality, because he is not like any other kid.. he has overcome some things in his life a 4 year old should not have to deal with and he is really hyper and energetic.. His name fits him.. I wouldn't be able to name one of my kids chris, david, mike or amy or any of those names that are always used.

I think people who give their kids weird names are trying to show off and impress others with their creativity. Personally, I hate any name that I can't pronounce and that isn't gender specific. One day these kids are going to apply for jobs and send out resumes. How embarrassing if your name is Taylor, Peyton or Morgan. These names are really popular and could be male or female.

I like unusual names, but not moron names like "Nike" for a baby. Heavanly Hirani Tigerlilly or Peaches, Apple ect do sound like the creations of a hormonally confused mind!

My name is unusual (Angelica) and i really like it now that im older, but as a kid cos it was different no one ever pronnounced it properly or tried to make fun of it - or worse - call me ANGELA!

If a name has genuine meaning then i think its OK! brand names, like NIKE, Reebok, Chanel, Moschino ect arent good in my opinion.

I think it's nice to have a unique name, but not one that is so off the wall like "Apple".

My name is "Alyce" ... it is pronounced Alice. I hate that people that just meet me, if they see my name spelled, cannot pronounce my name correctly. I have two children with easy to pronounce names and "normal" names because of growing up with this name.
