Sounds like you want to play rb or wr, but football is a team sport. Why don't you play the position the COACH thinks is best for the TEAM!!

If you run slower than 4.5 in the 40 you need to try out for defense and play Free or Strong Safety. If your 40 is 4.5 or faster stay on offense and play RB or FB. For longevity I suggest staying on defense and evolve your game from Safety to LB.

If you're fast and could break tackle than i think you should try out for RB. And also let the coach think first.

Have you played football before? If you haven't I would suggest just going out and see what positions fits you the most. Ask the coach if you can practice with at both postions during during the spring or summer workouts. Ask him for his advice once he sees how you work out and where he sees you fitting best in his plans.

if your telling the truth i would say running back. 194 in high school is perfect for a back. wideouts are usually a bit lighter and can run faster
