A couple of questions about Scholarships? :)?

Question

What exactly is a Scholarship? And how does it work? My from understanding..its something that gives you financial support for your studies, right?

Do they cover your living cost aswell, or just your school fees basically?

Do international scholarships work in the same way?

So then what happens after you´re finished studying, do you have to pay back the money you got from your scholarship after you´ve gotten a job and everything?

And i know this is kind of a stupid question but.. im asking this because..i kind of really dont know if im asking all of the right questions or if i know enough about scholarships and everything..so If i wanted to apply for an international scholarship, what kind of questions should i be asking? I mean should i get some financial advice? Are scholarships subject-specific or can i choose any subject?

Any answers you could give me or perhaps any sites that you could recommend me with more information would be very, very appreciated. Thank you so much for your answers in advance. =)
