Ok here's the deal. I had unprotected sex three months ago. The next day I got the morning after pill and took it as directed. I don't recall if I got the "period" that is expected after the pill. Soon after that I started on birth control and have been getting my period on a regular basis. What I am wondering is, am I just getting my period because the pill is forcing me to? Is there still a possiblity of being pregnant? I only ask because I've gained about 10lbs and have randomly vomited twice in the last two weeks. My weight has always been a steady 120 and I am almost never sick. As per other symtoms, I have been noticably tired and have had abdominal cramping. I took a home pregnancy test that came up negative but am still paranoid. I have also had a pap test since and they took urine. Would they have detected a pregnancy through that? Thanks

It's extremely unlikely that you're pregnant. If they took a urine test, t hey would have tested for pregnancy (at the gyno, that's usually the reason they take urine).

The morning after pill can really have a toll on your body, and you're probably just recovering from all the extra hormones. The one time I took it, I remember my next period after was really bad. I had a lot of cramping and I got sick, so what you're going through sounds normal.

It could also be that this is not the right brand of pill for you. If in two more months, you're still going through these symptoms, I would ask your gyno if you could switch brands. I had to switch once to get the right pill for me, and it was worth it. There are a lot of different kinds out there, so don't be shy about asking. There's no reason why you should have negative side effects from the pill.

If your symptoms get worse, this is something you also need to speak to your gyno about. Especially if the cramping doesn't get better. That could be a sign of infection. However, because you were just at the gyno, I suspect you're fine :)

If they took urine, they probably tested you for pregnancy. Based on what you said, I don't think you're pregnant. The pill does not force you to have your period.

Birth control can make you gain a little weight. I'm not sure if the pill can cause nausea - perhaps the morning after pill can. But you should talk to your doctor again about the pill you are on. I think your symptoms are from the morning after pill. But regular birth control can take some trial and error to get the right one. I was on a pill that caused acne, and another caused moodiness.

If you need to talk to someone for free, called your local Planned Parenthood or Family Planning office. You can describe your symptoms and they can tell you whether you need to have a pregnancy test. Generally the home tests are very accurate.

Try not to worry. You could have nausea and cramping because you're so stressed about this! Don't be afraid to talk to someone. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

The morning after pill is very effective if used up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. Also when doctors take a urine sample in office you would have found out about a pregnancy in the office. I would stop worrying, the pill has been known to cause weight gain in some people and it can make you sick if the hormones in it are to high for you.

If you've been having your period, it is EXTREMELY unlikely that you are pregnant. Your vomiting and weight gain could easily be a result of the birth control (those can be common side effects). You may want to talk to you doctor about switching to another kind. And if you're that paranoid...you should probably ask your doctor to do a pregnancy test. That way you'll know for sure.

yes if you were pregnant the pap test would have confirmed it as well as the urine test. If you are really worried call your OBGYN back and make sure...but im almost positive that the vomiting is a side effect of the Morning After Pill.

There are way too many symptoms going on here! If you went to the doc, they should've given you a more definitive answer, based on the results and you medical history (ie; birth control pills and morning after pill, menstrual cycle history... ) I would see a gynecologist again, if you don't get the answers you won't and these symptoms continue to exist...

Your Ob can take a blood test to determine pregnancy if you do not trust the home test. Nerves or fear of being pregnant can get your body off balance . Now have you learned anything from this? or are you still going to do as you have been?

go the the doctor to be sure. sometimes those home pregnancy tests can be tricky. there should be a clinic in your area that does test for free. take that route first.
