The punishment given for any crime varies a great deal from judge to judge and jury to jury. I assume this was a military tribunal, but I don't know this. Whoever decided on such a light sentence for such a horrendous crime with international consequences should loose their job, and be publicly ostracized. I tend to think we are all parts of God (he is in all of us) and are his hands and feet on earth. In this case We failed miserably doing his work . If there is a higher power who cares for us, then death is a release into their love and care, and only sad to those of us living. I'm not sure who in government to write about this, if you know please tell us.

Hi Paul...I understand your question and it's a very good one. It's truely sad what had happened to this innocent little girl and her parents. It's hard to believe that one of our own (military) is capable of doing something so horrid as this. Now, I don't know if this will help you to understand because I will never understand on a situation such as this but our Military court system is very different than our State Judicial system. It's ironic really because the military court system can be more lienient or it can be more harsh than our own State/County court system. We had a simular case such as this but with more innocents murdered at one time during the Vietnam War. These soldiers were caught and were prosecuted also for their crimes which were "hate crimes" to put it bluntly. This is what the "war" does to our soldiers. Not all soldiers mind you but a few. They literally "lose it". Now some of these soldiers had already resigned from the service when they were prosecuted, so they were in the reg.court system, while the others were still serving in the military so they were prosecuted in the military court system. Now in some cases, if the soldier or ex-soldier is being prosecuted, the State that they live in can either take the case or give it back to the military, it all depends whether the State wants to spend the money or not and the severity of the crime itself, and how "bad" the military wants to prosecute. So to my understanding this is why some of these soldiers served a more harsh sentence then the others for their brutal crime. War will place more "hate" on a person than anything. Consider the source. War is like a "hate crime" for our men and women in the service. They are fighting for a cause but yet they are "hating" the ones that they are fighting against. Then some of them will take it to the extreme and then look what happens. It's an awful thought but if you think about it realistically, it's true. I hope this has helped alittle but when you ask yourself if there is a God and you wander why He hasn't done anything about this, then you have to ask yourself, "Who started this war anyway"? There is a God most definitely, but don't you think He also is hurting because of this WAR, that MAN has created over greed and power? God doesn't condone what is going on in Iraq, but if you realize, maybe God had something to do in our military finding Saddam, so maybe God has helped, but in His own little way. (Just a thought). And as for God sentencing the guilty, He has His own way of handling criminals, It's His call whether to punish or not to punish. BUT if you remember in your Bible studies God is a "Forgiven God" so He does forgive those who have sinned, if they ask God for His forgiveness and sincerely mean it.Hope this has made some sense. Have a Blessed day!

I hate to say this, but this is wrong. There were a multitude of crimes committed. Several counts of rape, multiple murders and others like mistreating a dead body. It is shameful that the courts imposed such light sentences. However, it is a case of the military courts protecting their own. Is it right? No. And I know that there is equal outrage amongst military personnel that these monsters have been allowed to sully the good name of all servicemen.

You are there in this world and there are many like you who are concerned about the victims and their plight. That in itself is a big boon from God.
Now as you said the victims are gone and dead. So who is it that is wanting justice. It is us who are left behind. Keep it up pal, let the spirit in you be alive and there will be justice for all.
