My best friend and my ex are going out and i really don't care about either of them.So what if he sees that I don't care about him dating someone else?And what if he is hurt by that?

By asking the question you are saying you really do care. You need to make up your mind. Otherwise you are the one getting hurt here.

Evidently you do care if you are worried about your ex getting hurt by you supposed lack of concern he is dating your best friend.
I would think twice about calling someone your best friend who would do that to you if you still have feelings for you ex, which you evidently do.
I would re-evaluate your thinking about both of these people in your life and then move on with your life.

He doesn't want you anymore, and you don't want him anymore. If he decides to get his feelings hurt because you don't chase after him, I say that a little ego bruising might help him adjust some of his behaviors in the future!
