It was about a group of people who meet for a school reunion on a new hotel, that floats. However it is invaded by a group of men with guns, cannot remember why. People get killed, some have affairs, some are taken hostage. it was a really good book and I need to find the author and/or name so would appreciate suggestions.

The other two answers are correct - I have everything he has written and he is one of my favourite authors. I highly recommend all of his books, particularly The Sacred Art of Stealing.
A disused oil rig has been turned in to a luxury hotel in the book.

Christopher brookmyer - one fine day in the middle of the night.
really enjoyed this book, also read a couple of his others. definitely recommend them.
