...which would you choose and why? I don't really like either party much, and I feel that it isn't fair that they are the only two that have power. However, I know there are good things about both parties, and I want to understand the mainstream opinion on both. Thanks in advance.

Both parties have good and bad points, and good and bad members.
I am more conservative than most Republicans, but I have to live with that. I do not agree with Democrats on anything.

democrats used to be a great party , they used to be for the working man . Now the far left liberals have some what taken over and ended the values of the democrats . Now they put issues to the side in an attempt to win the 08 election and decided to bash republicans and fish for scandels

republicans are mostly conservative and don't believe in exessive social programs , such as giving medicaid to illegal aliens children , which is strange because bush did exactly that. For the most part Republicans believe in hard work and accountablility for their actions , they believe in the christian principles that founded this country , that doesn't mean you have to be christian , it just means they live their political and personal lives under different morals such as being against gay marriage .

i am a conservative independent , I believe this is the only open minded way to go about deciding issues and who you want to vote for , it seems if you are a dem or rep your decions are already made for you and you just become a sheep

Eh...if I had to pick one I'd pick Republican... only because right now they seem to agree with me on the topics important to me: welfare, military, family life, etc.

The Democrats are the party of working man, and helping those in need.

The Republicans are the party of the rich, and making the rich feel better about themselves.
