if it was fed introvenously ?? - As it possible for a chicken to survive for a few minutes after having its head ripped off, i was just wondering could it survive for longer, e.g. 18 months ??

Yeah there was a story about a headless chicken in the 1920's the thing toured the world. The farmer who owned the chicken didn't chop the head off right and left enough of the brain and brain stem for the chicken to survive. It had a name and was quite famous for a chicken.

Now if the chicken was on a life support system that would be different. with the exception of the blood pumping through the body and escaping at the neck, the chicken could live indefinately. Why the need to keep a chicken alive though? Pluck 'em, fry 'em and eat 'em!!!

No. Like you, the heart is controlled by the brain, and so is breathing. No head, no pulse or breathing.

no. once the head is gone the heart stops getting the message to beat and it dies.

the head has the brain - which controls all bodily functions - i.e. the heart which keeps it alive - so there is no way.....
