Hamsters are nesting animals. They collect paper, fluff, and any other items that they can pile together to make a little nesting den for themselves. This is the same reason why pet stores sell all the little hamster "huts", "dens", "fluff", "logs", etc. Hamsters just like to bury themselves in a den for protection and comfort when they sleep. It does not mean that they are pregnant because both male and female hamsters will do this.
