91 Buick Regal Limited 3.1 Liter V6. I turn the key to start and it acts like it wants to start, but it never turns over. Sometimes it will start but it cut off yesterday. I checked my fuses and fuse was really loose. Now its out. Could that be why it would do that? I'm thinking also that it might be the gas pump.

I would get your Fuel system checked out.

1. Check the battery terminals. Dissolve 2 TBSP Baking Soda in a qt. of warm water. Place any corroded terminals in the liquid. Once the they stop bubbling – remove & allow to thoroughly dry.

2. Charge the battery & load test

3. If Battery checks OK then investigates further

4. If all you can hear is the solenoid click, then it's time for a new starter motor. After a period of time the contact plate inside the solenoid becomes badly pitted, as well as the input & output terminals.

Replacing the solinoid, at best, would only be a temperary fix. If the solinoid is in that bad of condition the starter motor is not far behind.

sounds like fuel pump in the tank is either out or filter plugged. Try some dry gas as you may have condensation the in the tank from over the winter. Then a good dose of injector cleaner will help clean sludge off the bottom of the tank. If that doesn't work and you're handy, you can first replace the tank filter, then if necessary, the pump.

also check your point gap on the plugs. They may be off and need replaced.

is it fuel injected or does it have a carbuerator?

most likely fuel injected on the 3.1 liter v6 ( i had the same engine in a Chevrolet car years ago)

sounds like its either your fuel injectors are gummed up or your fuel pump bad.

what happens if you pump the gas pedal on the car while trying to start it?

Could be a clogged filter, pump going bad, starter going bad, or a few different things in the electrical system.

Can you smell gas when you are starting it? Do you think it's getting fuel?

There is only three reasons why a car will not start;
Compression
Ignition (spark in the right order)
Fuel
You must check (in your case start with fuel) each properly.
