I got a turquoise blue dress with silver beading for prom. My date picked out an all black tux with a silver vest and tie. But neither of us can figure out if he should have a black shirt or a white shirt. What do you think?

Silver is a lighter color, and a white shirt won't accentuate it very well. Black will make the silver stand out, and will make your dress stand out more. Also, white tends to make people look larger than they are, which is not good for anyone that isn't a twig, or nearly a twig, whereas black will be more slimming. Also, he will probably get hot and want to take his jacket off. If he does, than black is a better choice.

He can choose to wear a blue shirt of the same colors or your dress, either blue or silver. Or the traditional way is to wear a white shirt with a vest in either one of the colors close to your dress. A black shirt may be too dark for a spring prom.

I know from experience that white will go with any girl's dress. The black could work, but the white with the vest and tie will compliment the dress a lot, and it will make both of you look very flattering also.

White shirt. His vest and tie are actually supposed to match or compliment your dress, which the silver does, so you are good to go!

I dunno about the white, it's so old school now and it may be too much with a silver vest? Guys in black shirts are so hot. Can he ditch the best altogether, it almost seems too over the top.

kari, definately black. Adding white at this point is1 too many colors. I think it would make your outfits too "busy". Have a wonderful time. My prom was 32 years ago but I still remember it to this day. val from Michigan.

Black would look good-you will have too many colours if you go with white.Visualise yourselves in a photo together to help you decide.
