When my children were learning to go potty on the 'big girl' potty...I gave them a treat when they did it...same thing as a dog.It worked. Whatever works to get the job accomplished.
I no longer give food treats to my grown daughters or my dog of 3 1/2 years old. I use verbal treats once in a while to keep reenforcing the dog to keep up the good work.

Yes, when done at the proper time and in the right place. You are setting a schedule for their bowels to work appropriately with your lifestyle - they'll get used to it and they deserve a treat for that.

well with my dog he always used the bathroom inside until we started giving him treats when he went outside. I think they will want to use the bathroom more when you want or need them to if you give them treats. They will enjoy it more too. I mean they are your pets.

I give my dog a treat. It encourages her to come back inside when I call her.
