Why do americans think our govt is good and deny all its evil works?

Because I support the resistance of all people the US govt marks as terrorists who struggle to keep american interests from entering and poluting their society, I get accused of supporting day care bombers ie sept 11. When in fact americas military has slain, raped, arsoned, etc not only far more of its own people, example Willian T Sherman against the civilian populace of the south in the civil war, or the sands creek massacre, or all the little Iraqi kids they have killed, tortured, raped, et al far more then any have done against this nation, I just dont understand the DENIAL, I mean why dont americans just be proud they are wicked and like the Nazi no less? I promise my nation that I wont help it in time of need, I would assist every enemy of it including my own indian blood lines, the govt of american is just plain wicked and no matter how much they deny and strive to spruce its image up, I see clearly it is vile and detestable.

People would rather think they live in a good world than see the truth. Not all gouvernments are evil, and not even the Bush government is entirely evil. The real problem is how some actions go unquestionned.

If a population does not ask questions about the actions of their gouvernment, the gouvenment will have way too much power.

Partisan politics are the cause of this. By blindly affiliating themselves to one party, people fail to see that their party has flaws and the other party has qualities. In an ideal world, bi-party systems would allow a country to get the input from the two schools of thoughts and would chose the best ideas from both sides.

However, ideological zealotry means that even a good program from the republicans will be attacked by the democrates, and the inverse will be true as well.

In my opinion, the problem is that with both parties, the most vocal people are the extremists. Born again neo-con christians who believe the word of god should govern their country are opposed by tree hugging all around too accepting of difference without question people. This is where it clashes.

Moderates from both sides would much easier reach a middle ground that would not divide a nation as it is divided now.


(EDIT) By the way, look at some responses that already fall into hatred and denounciations without taking the time to look at their own actions... Goes well with what I was saying.

Power corrupts.

Take the best intentioned and compasionate person on the planet and put them in charge of anything and they too will soon be crapping all over their friends, family, colleges and community. Or they will simply end up cracking and losing their minds over the internal struggle of not being able to "please all the people all the time".

Personally I think ALL forms of government are corrupt.

I love my country, I loathe my government.

Those weasle jerks up in DC are a bunch of self-serving scumbags.

Do I think we as the United States is ALWAYS right? Hell no. Do I think we are always well intentioned in our actions. Hell no.

You have quite a few choices if the situation is intolerable to you. Since one of our few remaining rights is to give up our rights and citizenship and move to another country. Or you can simply "drop out" and become non-existent living off the land and streets.

If you chose to become a threat to other citizens, such as myself, who does not by any means feel the government is actually "for the people" ('cause they sure the hell haven't come to my house and ask me my opinion on the job they are doing) then I do expect that the full force of the United States legal and military system to come down on you and your kind because for better or worse, this is my country and I will defend MY RIGHT to live here safely and securely.

It's a sad fact that a good percentage of the population does not pay attention to politics except for election time, and that's only becasue it's plastered all over the evening news.
If you were to walk down the street and take a random survey of how many people knew :
1) Their govenor's name and how long in office?
2)The names of their state senators?
3)The name of their congressman?
4)How many Supreme Court Justices we have?
5)What the "Bill of Rights" is? (How many ammendments)?
You would be shocked by how many people didn't know this information. If it's not on the news, some people don't care...
That's the sad state we've devolved into...
Just think... How long did it take the media to even ask our government any possibly negative questions after 9-11?

there is no denying our government is not perfect. yes there has been many atrocities commited in the name of war, keeping of peace, and "civilizing a hostile nation".
But the soldiers in our military have a job to do.. if you are in the military and you do not carry out the orders you are given;you can die, your friends could die, or you could even go to prison. I am proud to be an American...and of our soldiers. They are doing their job and we should suppot them. As far as our government officials ;if we have a problem with them vote them out. If you will not support your country in time of need thats your business; but your country should not support you either. im sure you have a job and an education. where did you recieve it at? Jupiter?? go back there and live.

All government decisions has its own flaws but we elected these people to be our voice and do what they think we would do in the same situations. If you do not like how the government is being ran...then get out and vote and try to change it. I am so tired of hearing people complain about how things are being ran when they do not vote...in my opinion if you do not vote you have no right to complain! I am so thankful that I was born in a country where my voice matters and I have the right to speak my opinions. And I will forever be grateful to those people who fought to give me this right and to those who lost their lives defending these rights!
I am curious about his statement....all the little Iraqi kids they have killed, tortured, raped..... ARE YOU THERE? Do you really know what is going on there or are you just hearing it through gossip? I know things like that were said about veitnam...my uncle was there and he did not see any such things but he did experience first hand how cruel the USA people are....he had urine thrown on him and he was spit on when he got off the boat for his final return. He had been shot twice there. The first time he was offered to get to go home and he refused...he went back still trying to do what his government sent him to do. After the second time he was shot they refused to let him go back and sent him home. His welcome home was what I stated above! How can we make such false statements about ALL our service people who are trying to defend our freedom and our rights?
You need to realize how lucky you are ... your quote.."I promise my nation that I wont help it in time of need." Because of those service people you have the right to make that statement due to them being the ones trying to protect your freedom and right of free speech, ect...
My personal opinion is that if you hate this country so much LEAVE! Go to another country and see just how good you actually have it here! In some of those countries what you have said in this post is enough to have you executed but because you live in the USA you are protected to voice your opinion!
Oh... I also have a strong indian bloodline so do not state something like that and acting as if it is all people of this bloodline has your vile opinions! As you can tell my indian temper is coming out as I am writing this.
