The problem with any abortion debate, is that both sides use made up facts, the reason is, nobody likes the truth. For example, one says birth, the other says conception.

Human life is continuous, we all grew from living human sperm and ova. Dead sperm & dead ova can cannot merge at conception. Living human sperm & ova are alive because they can die.

The Catholic concept is that the soul is created at conception breaks down when we consider identical twins, which split 2 weeks after conception. If the human soul can only become individual @ conception, we couldn't have twins.

Any place you draw a line, and say that life starts at this time, you lose your argument. Since neither side can logically debate facts, instead, they affix blame.

Therefore, the number one cause of abortion, is the stigma on unwed mothers from the religious right, and yet they have the gall to try to talk unwed mothers into abandoning their babies to strangers under the guise of adoption.

Yikes, this is a minefield, though I do laud your objectivity. It seems that when life begins, and the value of that life, is extremely culturally varied. On one far side of the spectrum, some (''primative'', if I may use a loaded word) people still practice infanticide as a means of population control, believing the baby, so long as it depends on the mother for feeding, is not an autonomous being yet. On the other extreme, others believe that 'wasting' sperm is 'wasting' life. That said, if there are so many ranges and varieties of beliefs on this issue, it's probably something that should be left to individual ethics, like religious beliefs or sexual practices, rather than trying to force a view on it one way or the other.

Are you serious? You believe women get abortions because they think their religious neighbor will think less of them for haing a baby out of wedlock? I have to give you credit on one front: that's the most original argument I've seen in a very long time. Completely without merit, but original.

The fact remains that the overwhelming majority of abortions are obtained for convenience's sake. The woman simply believes that having a baby would change her life, and she doesn't want that.

As far as adoption is concerned, what could you possibly have against it? Adoption provides a loving home to kids who might not have even been born had it not been for the promise of adoption.

I do applaud your attempt to look at the issue logically, but shouldn't the simple fact that we cannot determine when life begins (yet) demand that we error on the side of life?

You conclusion, however, does not follow from your argument. You turn from a logical argument to an emotional one and in fact attempt to "affix blame".

The number one cause for abortion is that it cannot be determined when life begins and people have chosen to to error on the side of convenience. This is of course opinion.

it doesnt matter when life really starts...
these woman are sick individuals.....
the best gift a person and give another is life ....
what they should be doing is dying for thier child! not killing thier child for them!

The cause is UNWISE screwing around, unprotected.
Take the pill, squirt the foam, wear a rubber and if 3 means of protection at once don't work, welcome to parenthood.

The cause of abortion is a woman's personal choice about whether or not she wants to give birth. Whether people like it or not, abortion is not an epidemic. It is a personal, individual decision that is unique to each woman making it for herself, for her own reasons.
