I don't dislike the Hispanic population in the US. I do not like people sneaking in under the radar and raping our system. The people who respond to the language questions with

"well, this is a multi-cultural country and always has been, so get used to it"

obviously have never had to work with a foreign language speaking individual. I have German, Italian and Polish ancestry, do I speak any of those languages...NO! We are not MULTI we are MIXED-culture with a common language (AKA the one I am typing in now). I've had very good friends at the jobs I've worked on who were Jamaican, Mexican, Honduran(they are cool people, the Hondurans). Some spoke very good english and some spoke dribbles, I helped to teach those ones and enjoyed it.

I worked in some very dangerous proffesions (house framing, roofing, sheathing). If I yelled

"Hey Jose, your side of the scaffold is going to break, QUICK fix it or WE will fall 40 feet to the cement floor" language becomes quite important.

J-boy... you need some remedial reading classes. You are going too far between the lines. The white hats you speak of have the RIGHT to congregate and have their opinions, but I do not in any way agree with or support them.

This country was founded by many ethnicities and I love that fact. THEY learned a common language. I DO NOT dislike hispanics... I have issues with SOME of their "ways". Mostly the lack of respect shown to females. I learned quite a bit of spanish in high school. Your ignorance possibly stems from not having ever dealt with seeing your beloved country being overrun by ILLEGAL immigrants. My family came here through the proper channels and adapted to the culture here. I have seen our flag drug behind a car, while flying the colombian flag from the antenna. How would you feel seeing a picture of the queen being urinated on.

ESL classes are offered free of cost all over the place here. I only ask that immigrants assimilate and be proud of their new country.

Danagasta~ Though you are not whining or asking for any apologies. I do need to say that if I could erase racism towards blacks and the atrocities commited on the American Indian people, I would in a heartbeat. I would also immediately pardon "the caged bird" (leonard Peltier).

You speak six languages, and keeping your own cultural language alive is commendable. I truly doubt that you expect your grocer to speak cherokee to appease you. You learned the COMMON language so you could be part of the whole. My great great grandfolks had to change their name to make it easier to pronounce... their FREAKIN last name. So far as whining and crying, we have indians here on Long Island demanding the return of lands here to build a CASINO. But that is actually cool with me, though it doesn't exactly follow the old culture, I mean they want to chop down huge forests in pursuit of the dollar.... thats not the indian (or USA) culture that I appreciate and respect.

Yes, language is important. The "political correctness" advocates in American society have gone too far and not required immigrants to learn to speak and write English. While I don't hold your same dislike for Hispanics, I can relate to your frustration with no-English speaking co-workers. Americans are required to be able to read and write English to get a job... why should immigrants be exempt?

I speak six languages, including the language of my people (Cherokee, Atali dialect,) so it's hard to see where you're coming from here. This was our country before everyone else came in, yet you don't hear us whining and crying about immigration now do you? I find it ironic to say the LEAST that it's always the descendents of immigrants who do the most whining.

So basically you only don't like people that don't speak your language. How tolerant of the rest of the world.

America where you live HAS been multi-cultural, with different languages. Check your history, many countries owned the colonies. New York was originally a Dutch settlement. France owned several states it later sold and Spain had plenty of points on your map too. Your country's existed less than 300 years, you want to wash it all away well you just can't, there hasn't been enough time, and it's culturally important. Deny that your population is made up of people originating from other country's and you're just being stupid.

When you were with these people and teaching them english, did they ever teach you any of their languages? Maybe if you were nice to Jose and learnt a bit about him you might progress from please and thank you (which i doubt you say to anyone not in a white hat and the KKK tattooed on their forearm) you might know watch out or pay attention in spanish. This might prevent the poor man from dropping you on your head and mistakenly improving our gene pool.

I believe liberals are intimidated via any individual who's sincere and does not quilt up who they're with lies and trickery. They see a girl who has DONE SOMETHING awesome together with her existence, who continues to be modest, and virtually says "what you notice is what you get, after which a few" they usually are not able to stand her wholesomeness. Dan Quayle made a few dumb statements that had been blown out of percentage however he's a well man.
