Absolutely not! The government already has it's hands in too much of our lives. We aren't idiots. We are quite capable of dealing with the internet without the government's help.

Hell No !!!! It's bad enough they're tapping our phones and **** and I'll be damn if they get up in my email. But I would'nt be surprised if they already are. But this isn't China, or Iran, or Afghanistan or any of that ****, we have the right to freedom atleast thats what our constitution says ( like the government actually follows it, yeah when its in their favor). But why would you let the government take over the internet ? Just imagine that....................... Nothing but Army and other military sites, Pro-Bush websites, and we wouldn't be able to know things outside our nation like in China. Bottomline, I love my freedom and will kill for it so the government better nots **** with it, because we hav'nt had a revolution since the 1960's.

Why sould the Government have control over a forum that allows a free exchange of ideas? That sounds suspiciously like something a Liberal would want, to stifle opposition to their social reform ideas. The ANSWER is a DEFINITE NO!

Which government? Canadian? US? British? Australian? German? Chinese? Fact is the internet is international and cannot be easily or fully controlled. However some governments refuse to allow some sites to be hosted in their jurisdiction. I know of one hosted in Canada which the US and the UK have refused to allow hosts in their jurisdictions and the Canadians are likely to close it down as well. It would be no loss, BTW.

No. You don't say which government. The Internet is universal. The government of one country cannot determine what is done in another country.
In the US we have freedom from government interference. Who in our government could possibly qualify himself to determine who in our country can say or see what? No one.
