im 6 weeks late and have the implan in my arm. had a home pregnancy test came up negative, do i need to visit the doc

I believe that, like the depo shot, the implant birthcontrol can cause you to have light and non-exsistant periods. I wouldn't freak out too much, but yes it would be a good idea to check with your doctor just in case. Norplant is no longer available, so if THAT is what you have, I would certianly check with your doc to find out why and if you should have it removed/replaced... but here's what I found:

"Women may experience the following menstrual patterns when using Norplant:

Prolonged bleeding (having a period for more days than you usually experience) is most common during the first months of use

More frequent periods

Unexpected bleeding or spotting between periods

No bleeding at all (although there may be no harm to your health if you do not get your period, there may be a need for a pregnancy test in certain circumstances)

A combination of the above patterns. "

The implant has been known to stop periods either for a lenght of time or all together, i wouldnt be too worried if the pregnancy test came up negative

yes to see whats going on. they can do a blood test as well to see if your preg.
