I am looking for a published author that is willing to read my book and also willing to help me get it in the right hands like an agent . It is a comedy with some romance and good humor.
An excellent novel that should not only be a best seller but a movie. Please no jokers , just serious responders. Thanks

You do not need an author to get your book in anyone's hands. It doesn't work that way. What you need FIRST is a mentor to objectively read your work and determine if it is half as good as you think it is.

The reality check: We all believe we are the next fill-in-the-blank. We all believe we are brilliant and have a bestseller. The fact is, very few books ARE bestsellers.

I suggest first that you join a writing group (check the bulletin boards at your local library, bookstore, or community college) and get some honest feedback. This will of course require that you put your ego on a short leash and be open to the reality that maybe, just maybe, your masterpiece isn't quite ready yet. Maybe it is. You won't know for sure until you get honest opinions back. And if it isn't, YOU need to be willing to do what needs to be done to get it there.

Then, come back and do an actual search. You'll find that the question of "How do I get my book published" has been asked and answered somewhere in the neighborhood of a million times already.

You're asking quite a lot of a published author to help you do that. It will take a lot of their time to read your book, and use up a lot of their favours with people to get you an agent. Why can't you just do that yourself? Most of them did.

I recommend you join a writer's group on the internet or in your town. This will give you feedback on your work and your fellows may also have tips on getting an agent. You should also look at Writer's Market (US) or the Writers' & Artists' Handbook (UK) for lists of agents to contact. You can find these books in your local library or bookshop.

If you really want to contact an author, you could try writing to your favourite authors and asking them if they would mind reading your book. But I'm afraid that most of them will reply that they are too busy and will be rather annoyed to be asked.

As for just finding any old author off the internet, I really don't think you're going to attract anyone other than weirdos, to be honest. Sorry.

Hi There,
I am in the same boat. I know how hard it is to get yourself heard and out there. Just want to wish you luck, No harm in asking for help but do attend to agree that published authors may not have the time to read our work, and possibly wnt for law suits down the track etc. HOWEVER.... a friend of mine gave me a number to phone here on the Gold Coast, Australia, his neighbours sister is a published author, and would you believe I have rung her 22 times in a month to get advice on what path I should go down to be heard etc, and havent been able to sit down with her. Now after moving I have lost the number in transition.
I wish you much success and good luck

I am a published author but I only read a book for a fee, unless the book is by someone I know.

A published author won't read your book, in case you sue them if you think you see a detail form your novel in their own work. As for book agents, just googling or using Yell.com.
