Update your virus definitions first, then run a scan. The alternative would be to do an online scan at a site unassociated with your currently installed virus program to see if you get the same results.

It may be a trojan, you need anti spyware for that.
Switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.
http://www.bitdefender.co.uk/site/Main/view/Download-Free-Products.html - Bitdefender 8 doesn't run in the background and can be used as a second back up anti virus.
You need all these anti spyware programs;
http://www.ewido.net - AVG(Ewido) anti trojan.
http://www.safer-networking.org - Spybot Search and Destroy anti spyware. Use the Teatimer settings to protect Internet Explorer, and the Immuniser to stop malware getting on your pc.
Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to your browser.

Plus;
http://www.lavasoft.com - Ad-Aware SE Personal anti adware

Avg certifies that outgoing mail contains no virus ?
Whether you have selected this option ?
Originate a test mesage and send it to yourself.
Avg certificate should appear.
The virus infected computer/s could be at the other end.
Run another anti virus program as suggested above.
Check all attachments before opening them with AVG.

That's because AVG doesn't have the definition of the Virus that's on your computer...Not surprising as it's a Free Virus scanner and they don't update their definitions 8 times a day like my Paid version of Kaspersky AV6 does...
My friend was using AVG as well and thought is was the greatest AV in the world...that's until a Major Virus got into his system and destroyed it...he no longer uses AVG...

Go to www.antivirus.co.uk, and use Trend Micro Homecare free virus scan. This loads an up-to-date virus definition, in your internet browser, then scans the whole hard disk.
Highly recommended, works fantastic.

First of all AVG is a very poor AV program if your going to run this rubbish then you need to back it up with a good AV program most people running AVG (MUGS) use bitdefender free online scan once a week.

1) Update your AVG antivirus
2) Install antispyware (antimalware) programs, such as Ad Adware SE, XoftSpy SE or others
3) You may be infected by e-mail worm. Antimalware will detect and remove this threat from your computer

Anti-Virus are never 100% - particularly if they are not kept up to date with the latest threats.
I would suggest updating/upgrading your anti-virus and see if that clears it.
