This is used in Jazz alot, where in the middle of one song the artist will play a few bars of the Charlie Brown theme, then go back to the song. I thought it was called phrasing, but my co worker disagrees. Thanks!

I was going to say sampling but I'm not sure it applies in this case.....that refers more to rap and electronic stuff. How about paraphrasing........saying (or playing) the same thing in a different way? Or improvisation? Nah. Not improvisation.

Cheap Trick does that a lot, it's a signature with them. We Cheap Trick fans call it a drop in.
