I've watched them drink the stuff out of Poland Springs water bottles for a long time but am curious as to what it is. A friend answered the question but I'd like to know if theres anyone who knows for 100 % sure.

It is a mix that you put into water that is electrolyte based - Like Gatorade, or Powerade, only it is far more potent and focuses on hydrating the players for long periods of time, as well as improving blood flow and oxygen to their muscles (primarily their leg muscles) to eliminate cramping.
