My boyfriend and i have a freshwater/tropical fish tank. We recently purchased a freshwater place. (or it's called an Asian place) It's a baby and just over an inch long. It is dark brown with small black line on it. The fish shop owner said to feed it on blood worm. We have looked for info about these fish on the net but can't find anything on them. We want to know if there is anyone out there who can give us any information of any kind on them please? Thankyou :)

If there is any way you can put a photo of the fish on a photosharing site and add a link to it to your question it would really help ID the fish in question. I have never heard of a place, but have heard of plaice, they are saltwater fish similar to flounder, so that can't be what you have in a freshwater tank. It sounds like the common name is just being used to try to associate it to something more exotic which is a fiarly common practice.

I don't know about a "Place", but there are "Plaice" fish. They are similar to fluke. Try searching with this spelling and see if the fish is the same or close to what you have. If not send a photo of your fish to one of the sites that specialize in tank fish. Someone on those sites will know what you have.

I'd go back to the dealer - I never heard of freshwater place/plaice and my parents ran an aquarium outlet for years.
