I'm for the legalization of prostitution and here's why:

There have been sex workers of various kinds for centuries...play toys for kings, call girls...etc and experience has taught us up to now that especially in the age that we're in, if we can legalize it, it means we can regulate it. People, predominantly women, get into sex work for various reasons. And whether or not you agree they do something for a certain amount of time, they get paid for whatever it is that they do, that makes it a job just like any other job. So if this is a job that people do to make money, and if in most jobs there are rules in place to ensure the workers' safety, there should be those rules for sex work too. nd the only way for those rules to really exist is to either legalize or decriminalize sex work.

Interesting question.
I was a sex trade worker. I didnt do it for drugs or alcohol. I did it for the quickest, highest pay to support my children. I never brought home my clients. My children were impervious to my activities. By the way, my kids are adults now, so dont bother.
Sex trade has its ups and downs as with any business. It also is very hazardous.
Its a high risk, high paying job.
I will not say that it doesnt have an affect on your perception of the world and of yourself. You develop a sort of numbness to emotion because of hazards that one experiences in this trade. Would I do it again, if I knew what I knew? Of course not. I would never want to see my girls involved in any trade that ellicits an exchange for sex or stripping.
However, I cannot be conclusive in saying that the sex trade should be outlawed. Like the old saying goes, its the oldest business in the world. How do you outlaw something older than your government?

Prostitution is according to the dictionary, the act or practice
of offering the body for sexual relations for money. My feeling
is it is a business which in some states is legal, therefore as a business it should be regulated by government standards. The
moral aspect is based on an individuals choice.

Well the thing is you have no idea what it is like. I was once a sex trade worker that is the fancy name they give us this days. And let's just say it ain't fun.My parents died and it was the only job I could find at that age to keep my two little sisters from being taken by the social workers. It wasn't fun running into cops, feminists and drug addicts. So I guess I'm against it. And I hope next time you hook up with a prostitute just stop to ask why she is doin' it.

Legalise it. Now.
Bring sex workers and their customers off the street into a safe, clean environment.
I don't see why people are so against prostitution. As the saying goes - it's the world's oldest profession.
No matter how hard the authorities try they will never stop it so why not make it as safe as possible for all involved.

legalize. in areas where it is legal, the prostitutes are required to go for hiv/std testing. the rates of these diseases in prostitutes have dropped dramatically. plus people do it anyway. we might as well make it legal so it can be monitored and so that it can be taxed.

Legalize it. Get girls off the street and into safer houses. Access to clinics and protection from men's abuses would be the best reasons for doing so. Besides illegality does nothing to prevent or detur prostitution, its always been around and always will. They don't call it the world's oldest profession for nothing.

Prostitutes were often sexually abused as children and thus have low self esteem. They are often forced into this "career" because there are no other jobs for them. Also, because they have so many sexual partners, they can spread sexually transmitted diseases. Remember-condoms aren't 100%. Finally, despite what the media would have us believe, sexual intercourse should be an act of intimacy and caring. We are not animals rutting in heat. Prostitution is not an intimate profession. So I guess my stand is against it.

Surely you mean street prostitution, because prostitution disguised as escort service seems to be legal, but only accessible if you can afford it.

It's degrading, especially to the prostitute. It shouldn't be legal.

EDIT: I find it hypocritical for some people to scream that men just want women for sex, yet these same people have no problem with prostitution. Men want prostitutes just for sex.

First you don't want women to be used. Fine. But a prostitute is being USED! Make up your minds!
