something delicate. try:
- a locket
- a chain (silver, preferably) with a heart charm
- a simple chocker (not black, which can be mistaken somtimes for being 'goth' - not that that's a bad thing)
anything pretty, simple, and [ like i said] delicate.

depending on the age... the most durable link chain is the "box chain" and they can make it very thin, also the link chain such as figaro,and cuban links are durable too. do not get a necklace with pins or joints... they dont last long if the wearer wears it all the time. 16" is nice for a teen it should hang right below the colorbone, 18" if shes a little on the thick side. if you get a nice chain that might be a good gift in itsself. cuban links look nice when they are a little thicker and she can get her own charm.
just go to a jewler who doesnt pay their employees commission... the prices are not hiked up if the employees dont get a cut. just ask: do you get a percentage of this sale?
and if no then thats the place to buy from.
make sure if you can to spend the extra 20 bucks on a lobster lock too...
