Just wondering if you know how to clean vases (especially a tall thin one where a brush wont reach!). The coating I'm trying to get off is not actually dirty looking but frosted (milky) looking. ?Maybe there is some kind of acid for clear glass.
Actually the parts I could reach were still milky looking after cleaning with detergent. Any clues? Thanks

Fill it with vinegar and hot water and let it set overnight. If that doesn't do the trick, the vase may actually be permanently damaged by etchings.

If you want a quicker, greener way to clean the vase: 1 - vinegar and uncooked rice SHAKE ( the vinegar cuts through the residue and the uncooked rice will abrasively rub where your hands cannot reach ) OR 2 - buy some soapnuts (google), boil a handful in water for 10 minutes then strain the liquid and use this liquid instead of vinegar for method 1 ( still use the rice too and SHAKE )

Lilyfield is right. Vinegar and hot water will do the trick. You can buy long skinny bottle cleaners with bristles at the grocery store and you could use that to get the inside of the vase clean.

Put a little bit of ammonia to soak in the vase for a while to eliminate the milky looking substance. Rinse with warm water & dry with paper towel.

You could try Lime Away but I think the glass may have gotten etched. If that;s the case, Buying a new one is the only solution.

Try vinegar and ice, it works wonders in cleaning coffee pots. The ice is like an abrasive but does not damage the pot.

You could try detergent and water with crushed eggshells, and a good shake.
