Maybe they haven't had the opportunities others have had(education, nepotism etc) and luck is involved too.

It depends on where you live. Sometimes a higher degree is needed in order to get the higher ranking positions at a job. Other times, the person might be in the wrong profession where there is no place to go. Sometimes it takes a bit of people skills to move ahead and be promoted. Other times it's simply nepotism (relatives are being favored.) Not all can be in leading positions and it would be sad that whoever isn't would not be working hard. It is the hard workers who make up a company.

For upward mobility, hard work alone is not sufficient. One should be reasonably intelligent (which is hereditary) coupled with luck or chance factor. The best way to help the unfortunates with poor intelligence is adopting eugenic policies so as to increase the intelligence level of the lower class along with other conventional means like education etc.

They think negative about themselves, about situation and keep on blaming their luck for the same. In order to do better in life I would suggest they should start giving positive affirmations to themselves, change their inner conversation instead of saying past karma, or poor family or corruption, say I am lucky, god loves me and blesses me with His choicest blessings. Always say that God loves me and is taking very good care of my life. Thank God for the full body, the meals, for clothes , for family and whenever they repeat their old negativity they should utter cancel negative thought three times and visualise as if a child is cancelling a statement on his/her slate in school. Even if no improvement in their life is seen immediately, but stick to positive utterance as given above and they will see positive development in their life. Before doing any work they should have a thought that it is for happy and better life that they are working. For example they are saving money for leading a life of celebration and NOT FOR RAINY DAY, if u save for rainy day, then rainy day will come in ur life. If u save for leading a life of celebration, then u will live in celebration. I have shared my knowledge with u, the rest is in ur hands to follow or not.

Well, its not always "Hard Work" but mostly "Smart work" that counts.
If u want to grow at work... its important to understand that its not JUST YOU, who needs to feel that the work is divine...
The others (more so your superiors who matter) need to KNOW that u consider your work so highly....
And if this doesnt work .... switch :)
