Type "msconfig" in the "run" area at the start button, click on the "startup" tab, next uncheck everything related to AVG, then click "restart". This should keep it from starting up when you boot-up the computer.

AN anti Virus program should be always a resident program to scan and stop viruses. AVG updates when you go online. you can disable the automatic update feature.
It could not be the same update. are u sure ?

are you sure its the same updates? I use avg and it does frequently do small updates when you put in on!
I've found AVG to be far better than McAfee which i paid for for a year (the only time i had real problems with a virus was with Mcafee). I have had no problems at all with it. Maybe uninstall then reinstall it from start incase problem with set up!

Guys theres nothing wrong with AVG - in fact its a fantastic virus scanner considering its completely free.
The solution to the problem is simple - right click on Scheduled tasks in the control panel and disable Test Plan in basic mode. Your pc wont start scanning at boot up every time - easy no?

Nothing is wrong. It is actually an virus update to those files, and don't listen to the moron who says its s*** because he doesn't know what hes talking about I've had Nortons and had so many problems with viruses I had to get rid of it. Nortons is only going by their name now and not the product. Its one of the best if not the best anti-virus product on the market.

Uninstall, and reinstall?
Try a different AV tool. You can get a copy of Norton AntiVirus free for 6 months on Google Pack
