I tried formatting my Windows XP 2001 computer that uses an AMI Bios.I couldnt find an option to boot from the CD or any option to exit setup.My system is down with errors and viruses.What can i do about this.

first decide are you ready to loose the information permanently. if yes then proceed with this.

insert the xp cd and start the system and press the space bar and you can find the system boots with the help of xp cd and go as per the instructions. after the temporary files are written on to the system it asks for formatting the c drive select yes and the c drive will be formatted and new copy of xp will be loaded on your system.

The fact that it is an AMI bios does not affect formatting. Try pushing "delete" or "f2" immediately and repeatedly after you turn the computer on. That will get you into BIOS setup and there you can direct the BIOS to look to the CD drive for boot information. This may not work just on a "restart" but needs to be a shutoff and then start.
