Probably is not your cable. Most of the time it is noise on the line causing it to shut down and restart. If you are using a telephine line this is very comon and the phone company can fix that problem. some times it takes many calls to gety them to do it though. This can happen with cable as well but not as comon.

The ethernet cable is the cable that plugs into the back of your computer and allows you to access high speed internet or a LAN (Local Area Network). Since it reports a problem with the cable, you may want to first try switching the cable with another one that you know is good (I keep a Network Cable my ISP gave me for this purpose), and if it still reports a problem with the network cable, run a diagnostic program on your computer.

Thats the cable that runs from the back of your PC to your router or cable/dsl modem. You can try replacing that, or take a look at your router or cable/dsl modem. make sure that it still has power.

Do you have BellSouth for internet? I got that message a LOT even though nothing was connected incorrectly. Their service SUCKS
