ahhhhhh, easy! just sponge off with some White Vinegar and a little water then just rinse with cool water afterwards, your umbrella will smell fresh again and the mildew will be removed and vinegar also helps to protect it, also next time you use your umbrella don't fold it up and put away allow it to air dry first before putting it away someplace, you should allow it to dry someplace warm not humid or moist. I am guessing the umbrella is not white, if it was just bleach it, since it isnt, the closest substance that would come to bleach to remove mildew would be strong amonnia, but this wont work as well as bleach.

Open it up, liberally spray it with Lysol, and let it dry. It will kill the mildew.
It must be one really nice umbrella. I'd probably just pitch it in the trash and get a new one.

Open it up and set in the sun for a day. then next time be sure it is dry before closing it up after the rain.

Soak it in detergent or vinegar. If it's white, soak in bleach.
