The case seems simply too strange to be true. A 26-year-old mother of two wanted to free herself from what had become a miserable and abusive marriage. The police had even been called to their apartment to separate the two -- both of Moroccan origin -- after her husband got violent in May 2006. JD, Do you realize how ignorant of Christianity you sound? I suggest that you stay off the communist blogs and actually READ the actual words of Christ so you will sound a little more knowledgeable next time:

I have heard many, many, many uneducated liberals try to compare the Christian right to the Islamofascists. It is an absurd comparison. First of all, you can see from the quote, Jesus was rather opposed to brutality such as stoning. Moreover, there is no concept even close to "jihad" anywhere in the bible. Now I hope you realize exactly how ignorant you sound.

You know, I have to admit I find this whole thing funny and the answers you've gotten as well. Now please, don't misunderstand me, I think what the judge did was out of line and completely insane. The reason I find it funny is because of some of the answers here. Many here say it is PC and perhaps that's true, but consider this: in the US right now, we are seeing the religious right (Christian Conservatives) trying to apply Biblical law to all people. Some are even advocating beatings and stoning, a literal return of Levitical laws and practises. Now, although, at the moment this radical Christian thinking is kept under control by a majority of Americans, one cannot discount the possibility of it one day happening.

If you need proof, consider the stacking of the courts with socially Christian conservative judges.....that's how it started in Germany......in 1933.

Sharia Law is making it's way too America! It will be part of UK and French Law prior to it making it in the States. The US made a grave mistake when the US Supreme court allowed reference to European Law in cases where US LAW had no prior cases. It may open a can of Worms! I understand that Wisconsin had a referendum on accepting Sharia law. It is just a matter of time. Defeat Islamofascists now or get ready to wear a burka!

Yes if people do not wake up it can and will hapen every place. And they keep saying islam is a religion of peace.

It is legal in many places for a husband to kill his wife if she does want to leave him. He can leave her and nothing wrong at all but she can not.

I sure hope it is not long before people understand that islam is the enemy of all the rest of us. Islam can't allow any other religion to survive amongst the muslams.
