SD and MMC are based around the same physical size but the MMC card is slightly thicker so an SD card will work in any MMC slot but the reverse is not always true. SD is also a newer format, which means it has a higher maximum capacity than MMC. Mini SD is small enough that you can get adapters that are sized to fit a standard SD slot. Micro SD is smaller enough again that you can get adapters that are sized to fit Mini SD slots, which means you could stack both adapter so you could fit a Micro SD card in a standard SD slot. The only other flash memory format that's both small enough to fit and used commonly enough that you might be able to find phones and music players that would accept it is xD, which is currently the third most common format (behind SD and the much larger CompactFlash). As for pen drives, assuming you mean what I think, they're more designed as a way to be able to interface your camera cards with your computer than as a generic USB flash drive with removable media, since you'll pay about the same price for a standalone 1GB flash drive as you would for a 1GB memory card that would probably still require some sort of adapter interface for most computers. As for the price in India, I haven't a clue. The price varies enough in the US based on manufacturer, retailer, how robust the card is, read/write speed, and any extra bonuses (like SanDisk's Ultra II USB+, which is an SD card that can fold in half to reveal the plastic contact wafer of a standard USB plug).
