Good point, John. She is more flubbery anyway, in a good way like jello or chunky. Speaking of my wife here.

I would suggest to her to seek a divorce attorney since her husband obviously doesn't appreciate her. Those who can't look past the exterior are superficial anyway and don't deserve a second thought. I am sure that you are no prize.

I move around a lot so I joined Curves just because there seems to be at least one in every town (I have been a member at 5 of them). I would suggest going to your local Curves and seeing what machines they have (the more members a gym gets the more machines they have). Although the advertisements for Curves look great with laughing women and a lot of support I have found that you have to be really motivated yourself. Some women do sit around and talk (therefore are not getting much of a workout) but if you keep up the pace it is easy to get your heart rate up and keep it up for the full 30 minutes-- and I increase the workout a bit by walking to and home from the Curves. I guess I really didn't answer your question -- no you don't have to be tubby to join, there is a variety of body types and ages that use Curves.

Curves is an all - female gym with an excercise curcuit designed to help women get in better shape and lose weight. I would caution you about using the term "tubby". Women can get upset very quickly when weight issues are at hand, and using derogatory terms to describe weight problems is asking for their wrath.

I'd only recommend it for very obese, very inactive or for old people. For anybody else, their workouts are not challenging at all, so you're better off just walking around the block. Plus, all the people there tend to cheat and just lounge, so it's tempting to cheat and not workout hard. I tried it for one day, and I started going to a normal gym.
Curves does not have enough machines, they do not push you hard enough, plus they give a lot of money for political causes.
going to a normal gym is much better

I used to be a member. No, you don't have to be overweight to join. It's a good cardio workout, as long as you're keeping your heart rate where it's supposed to be. As far as getting toned, it doesn't help much there, because you are really not doing the excercises long enough. But its a good start for someone trying to lose weight.

Is your choice of adjectives intended to inflame? Because if I was your wife, I'd be humiliated and extremely angry with you right now.

Honestly, what do we have to do to demonstrate that we are worthy of respect? Or are you just being stereotypically insensitive?

I once had a membership in Curves...doesn't matter what size you are. I like it, but I can't do it that much due to a bad ankle.
