I bought it about 3 months ago. At the time, it had a nice shoot and I'd hoped it would open soon. It's done nothing. I think it's dying. I have it by the window next to bamboo blinds so it gets light but not direct sun. I water but I don't think I overwater. What am I doing wrong? I love the plant but have never had any luck with them. Ever.

The Areca Palm is quite difficult to care for; spider mite is apparently a problem, as well. Try these sites, and maybe it will give you the information you need.

Make sure you are feeding it about every three months, and one thing that might be affecting it adversely is the amount of soluble salts in your water. I'd try only watering it with distilled or filtered water for a while to see if that helps.
I've never had much success with any kind of houseplant, so if that makes you feel better, all the better. LOL
Happy Gardening!
