1] on the 'download it' part, i believe you will want a dictionary program that's:
a) an ENGLISH dictionary
b) PORTABLE, meaning you can bring it with you anywhere on a USB drive (~5MB, no installation required)
c) FREEWARE, no registrations etc needed

wordweb is a good dictionary that you can install on your computer
