The match fixing theory does seem to be the most logical explanation. All of the other theories seem to have a counter argument against them, while this does not. If we look at the Ireland game, it is hard to find a reason why Pakistan lost. Even though they are clearly very erratic and fluctuate greatly in how well they do, they should be able to easily beat Ireland. It is possible that match fixing occured in that match which Woolmer found out about and was murdered to keep him quiet.

Here comes the crazy part of the conspiracy theory. Remember the abandoned test last summer? It is possible that the players staged the protest as part of a match fixing thing. Woolmer seems to be surrounded by these theories, but we can't say if they're correct until the police catch the killer(s). That is if, indeed, there were killers. The evidence that he was strangled is apparently that there was a broken bone in his neck. Maybe he fell and hit his neck of something like that occured. Maybe Freddie hit him in his Pedalo.

I know that there is a chance that he was murdered due to the conspiracy theory, telling about matchfixing with bookmakers and pakistani players, but there has been talk that this was just a distraction brought up by former pakistani player safraz nawaz. Personally I believ that he was killed by a/many crazed fan(s). The pressure for cricketing success on the subcontinent is far greater than anywhere else in the world, not only do the media hound and scrutinise their every move, but the public burn effigies of and verbally abuse/ physically attack people related to cricket who they think have let them down in cricket. There is no other sport apart from hockey for pakistanis, and so they can become extremely obsessed. add this with some extreme islamic ideas (of only some people) and you've got a recipe for trouble. Some Pakistanis can be extremely crazy and vicious. I read that when a pakistani woman married a man without her families approval, the men from the woman's family raped all of the women in the man's family, broke the man's legs, and cut off his ears. the man's mother was also shot in the leg.

I can tell you that today Jamaican police confirmed that Woolmer was murdered, by manual strangulation, and died due to asphyxiation.

Being a Pakistani coach doen't mean that Pakistani team would be involved in it.till yet they could not find a single clue agaisnt the team !! and why would they do this? it was obvious that if Woolmer is being murdered Pakistani would be suspected the first ! and secondly there is no abvious reason of team involvment ..they loved woolmers to death and this is the reason that even after the defeat Woolmer wished to stay with Pakistan.he loved the team as a family ! umm Bookies can't be excluded ! they are the filthy people who have made this game unreliable !
what i think is that there can be some political issue as well.......jamica is a place famous for murders.and has the highest rate of unresolved killing in the world....so we can't exclude the local people or politics.....but team is not involved thats for sure !!

Let's not lose sight of the fact that cricket is the national sport of Pakistan and can almost be called a religion to the people of Pakistan . Well one can speculate all you want but the facts at hand and the timing of all the events do raise suspicious theories . I am of the opinion that he was in all probability killed by a fanatical supporter or someone like that . Very sad but this is a very sick and sad world we live in . Bob was a great guy and didn't deserve to go like that .

I think he was murdered by someone who lost a whole lot of money on that result. Shouldn't be too hard for the police to narrow down on those sorts of suspects.
I think it shows the problems associated with betting on cricket matches, although I don't know how you'd stop it.
A very sad state of affairs.

I think it's very suspicious - especially when you consider his involvement with Hansii Kronja (can't spell his name but he was the South African cricketer who was found guilty of match fixing and then suspiciously died in an aircraft 'accident'). Personally I think gambling cartels are involved.

Somebody somewhere lost an awful lot of money and isn't very pleased. Wouldn't surprise me if there was match fixing involved.
