At 12 weeks, the baby will not look as you can expect it to look when he or she is born. The baby is still developing and the baby's body is still changing. Besides which, with a regular ultrasound scan, the baby's features are never going to seem completely "normal". With a 4D scan, the features could be more clear. But even that will be later on since right now in your baby's development, it is not going to look as it will when he or she is born.
(I've posted a link I'm using with this pregnancy to follow along with my baby's progress. I thought you might find it interesting!)
Congratulations and good luck!

Its still too early for your baby to look like much at this point. The scan does a lot to distort the looks of your baby as well. Just give it time to grow and develop.

ive got 4 kids and every ultrasound i had, i picked something up,
only one arm
no legs
a very long arm
alien looking
lumps
head too big
no neck
no fingers
heart too fast or slow
very big nose
and there r heaps more things too, but they all came out just perfect, the sonographer would pick up a problem, they know exactly what everything is and how it should be
best of luck, stop worrying, easy for me to say, but ive been there and done that and i wish i didnt worry so much, that just spoilt my pregnancies

First scans always look strange they kinda make the baby look alien like i think but this is pretty normal if you are worried though ask your midwife/doctor and he/she will reassure you. if they thought there were any problems they would have told you. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy hope the morning sickness has gone.

at 12 weeks there isnt a shape in particular, i bet you the baby will be perfect once you've seen the baby face to face. You r right to be worried but it's prob just the way the baby's leaning. Hope the best to u and the baby.

At 12 weeks it is still in the very early stages and there's a LOT of development to go...things will take shape beautifully, you'll see.

Twelve weeks? That's three months. Your baby is the size of what, my thumb? There's plenty of time and room for development! We all want our babies to be perfect, but in this case I don't think you have anything to worry about unless your husband is a Klingon :) It'll all be fine.
Oh, and congrats!
